Missions

When it comes to missions here at Oakdale, we see ourselves as striving to become an Acts 1.8 church! That means it is our desire to develop and execute plans and projects that take us to our Jerusalem (Rocky Mount), our Judea (Edgecombe and Nash Counties), our Samaria (North Carolina and all of North America), and the ends of the earth (the whole world).

Oakdale Baptist Church, joining with the NC Baptists, has been sending teams to Honduras for several years to reach the ends of the earth. The purpose of our being in Honduras is to partner with Honduran congregations in proclaiming the gospel of Christ. All teams (including construction) are encouraged to participate in evangelistic outreach to the community in which they work. This may include prayer walks, door-to-door visitation, the showing of the "Jesus" film, VBS or Backyard Bible Clubs for the children, etc.

In 2018 we are planning to send a team to St Lucia, in the Caribbean, to assist in evangelistic sports camps and to lead in tent crusade meetings.

Oakdale's plan to reach our Samaria begins with the state of North Carolina, where the BSCNC has identified 250 "pockets" of lostness. It is our goal to adopt one or more of these pockets, and share Jesus through short and longer-term missions.

Additionally, we will head to Altoona, PA, this July for a week of proclaiming the gospel, VBS, Backyard Bible Clubs, and servant evangelism.

In order to reach our Judea, we are currently partnering with Howard and Melissa Taylor to sponsor the Beth-Emet Messianic Church Plant. While we are seeking ways to reach out further in the Nash-Edgecombe County areas, we will continue to support and volunteer with the Pregnancy Care Center, the InJoy Thrift Store, and other local organizations.

In order to reach Rocky Mount, our Jerusalem, Oakdale uses several evangelism strategies such as Operation In As Much, VBS, Upward Basketball/Cheerleading and Men on Mission Construction.

Missions is the heart of what we do!

Pastor Mike frequently says, "It's the whole Gospel for the whole world.  It's amazing grace for every race!"
