Upward Basketball 2012

Devotions have been great, food and fellowship has been great also. Reminder for everyone that pictures will be taken during practices the week of Jan. 30th - Feb. 3rd. Please wear your uniform to practice this week. Also keep in mind and prayers our Award night, which will be on Sunday night, 6pm at the Keihn Auditorium at Edgecombe Community College in Tarboro. Our guest speaker will be Ron Johnson, he will share his testimony along with some magic and ventriloquism. Please keep praying for our volunteers. They are all doing a wonderful job. Thanks to all who give their time and are dedicated to sharing the LOVE of Jesus Christ to everyone. Remember we are all in this together, even we Christians can't make it one single day without Christ in our life. We should love that person, not that position, we should see a person, not a problem, we should help that person, not cause pain, we should guide their future, not see their past. Upward basketball is an "ever changing way to share a never changing message, Its not the shoes, its the souls.

Upward is a first-class sports experience for children that emphasizes healthy competition, sportsmanship, skills building and fun versus the “win-at-all-costs” mentality associated with many sports leagues. On top of equipping children with sport fundamentals needed to participate at the next level, some unique features to Upward are:

Each child is evaluated before the team selection process to create balanced teams that are competitive.
Upward utilizes a unique substitution system which guarantees every child equal playing time.
Upward aims to teach both athletic skill as well as values for success on and off the playing field/court.
Upward prioritizes a family friendly schedule by conducting one-hour practices and games each week.
With supportive coaches and a positive sports environment, Upward is designed to bring out “the winner” in every child regardless of the game’s score.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Form and registration fee may be mailed to or dropped off at the church office anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The early registration cost per child for basketball is $55; after November 5, the cost is $65. The early registration cost per child for cheerleading is $68; after November 5, the cost is $78. Deadline for registration is November 5. Basketball shorts are optional at a cost of $12. Cheerleading mock turtlenecks are included in the registration cost.
